Hydrofluoric acid will also be used in the "acid leaching" process to remove oxygen-containing impurities on the stainless steel surface.
Hydrofluoric acid is also used in the synthesis of a variety of fluorine-containing organic compounds, such as Teflon (polytetrafluoroethylene) and Freon refrigerants.
